Polygon Projections and Shadows

Applets concerned with projections of polygons and the 1-dimensional shadows that polygons cast.

Quadrilateral Projections

Picture
Picture
As a point traverses a quadrilateral, its position is projected onto a pair of screens at right angles. When the projection is plotted against time, you get the shadow-graph of the polygon.
Can you predict the shape of the graph?

The applet permits gradual revealing of details against which to check conjectures or to gain support for better conjectures.

Given the projection graphs, can you predict the shape of the quadrilateral?
